Project Overview

QOffshore delivered hydrographic and geophysical survey support for a marine development in Papua New Guinea. The scope integrated multibeam bathymetry, side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profiling across nearshore and offshore environments, providing a coordinated dataset for engineering assessment and project planning.

Survey Scope & Methodology

  • Multibeam echo sounder (MBES) bathymetric acquisition and processing
  • Side-scan sonar (SSS) seabed imaging and interpretation
  • Sub-bottom profiler (SBP) acquisition and shallow subsurface assessment
  • Integrated positioning, acquisition QA/QC and data management
  • Cross-platform bathymetric integration to provide continuous coverage from shallow to deep water

Outcome

The survey produced a continuous 1.5 m engineering-ready bathymetric dataset by integrating complementary acoustic datasets across the project area. The combined hydrographic and geophysical workflow provided a consistent understanding of seabed morphology and shallow subsurface conditions to support subsequent engineering decisions.
