For the third consecutive year, QOffshore Services has proudly supported the Society for Underwater Technology Perth Branch’s Positioning and Survey Course, voluntarily contributing specialist knowledge in surface positioning, hydrographic surveying and offshore survey operations.

Hosted at the Wood offices in Perth, the annual course brings together professionals from the offshore energy, subsea engineering, hydrographic survey, ocean science and underwater technology sectors.

Sharing Practical Surface Positioning Expertise

QOffshore Managing Director Ahmed Said delivers the course’s Surface Positioning session, combining fundamental positioning principles with the latest technologies, practical offshore experience and real-world project applications.

The interactive session provides attendees with an opportunity to discuss operational challenges and understand how accurate surface positioning supports:

• Hydrographic and geophysical surveying
• Offshore and subsea construction
• Subsea asset installation
• Marine infrastructure projects
• Vessel and equipment positioning
• Offshore engineering and marine operations

By connecting technical positioning concepts with actual project requirements, the session helps participants understand how positioning quality can directly influence the safety, accuracy and successful delivery of offshore projects.

About the SUT Positioning and Survey Course

The 2026 Positioning and Survey Course was delivered over two days on 18–19 March 2026.

Surface positioning forms part of a broader technical program covering:

• Bathymetric and hydrographic surveying
• Survey data processing
