QOffshore recently completed a Hydrographic Survey campaign inside a shallow river using the Mini-Uni Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) supplied by Unique Group, fitted with a Norbit Multibeam Echosounder (MBES). The operation showcased how compact, autonomous technology is reshaping Bathymetric Survey practices in confined or hard-to-reach waterways.
The Mini-Uni USV provided exceptional agility and stability in shallow waters where conventional boats or tinnies would struggle. This lightweight autonomous platform allowed us to acquire high-resolution bathymetric data safely and efficiently, avoiding the logistical challenges and man-hours typically required to mobilize a full-size vessel.
Equipped with the Norbit integrated MBES system, the USV delivered precise and detailed seafloor mapping with real-time data visualization. The combination of automated line tracking, consistent motion compensation, and high-density soundings ensured that our Hydrographic Survey data met the highest accuracy and coverage standards.
This deployment demonstrates how QOffshore continues to innovate by adopting USV-based MBES survey solutions to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance. Using autonomous Hydrographic Survey systems not only reduces mobilization time but also allows continuous operations in very shallow or restricted areas—previously considered inaccessible for standard survey vessels.
By integrating USV platforms, Multibeam Bathymetric Survey systems, and advanced Hydrospatial data processing, QOffshore continues to lead the way in offshore and nearshore Hydrographic Surveying, delivering precise, cost-effective, and sustainable data solutions for engineering, construction, and environmental applications.
